Following on from our wonderful trip to Studio Lenca in Margate; I took a group of our Creative Media & Computer science students to visit Ravensbourne University in North Greenwich. The university is known for its cutting-edge programs in Digital Media, Computing, Animation, illustration, design & Fashion. It opened its doors to our students, providing them with a glimpse into the dynamic fields shaping our digital age. The day started with a warm welcome from current students who shared their passion for their chosen degrees. Our students were then guided through state-of-the-art studios, immersive computing & gaming  labs, and collaborative spaces where they witnessed the magic of animation, graphic design, virtual reality, and more.

The hands-on experience was particularly enlightening as the students got to experiment with innovative tools and techniques under the guidance of skilled mentors. One of the highlights of the visit was the workshop bridging Creative media with Computer science. Here, students witnessed how coding and programming underpin various aspects of visual storytelling, game development, and digital artistry. Engaging in interactive workshops, they discovered firsthand how technology empowers creativity and enables limitless possibilities in content creation.This campus tour and workshops offered a unique opportunity for them to delve into the future of digital innovation and artistic expression.

Beyond the technical facets, the campus tour & workshops ignited conversations about career pathways and higher education choices. Students had the chance to engage with current undergraduates, learning about their academic journeys and the exciting projects they are involved in. This personal interaction provided invaluable insights for those contemplating further studies in the related fields.

We then took an adventure into the heart of London's Design District at North Greenwich. This immersive tour offered a unique opportunity for our students' minds to explore the vibrant intersection of art, architecture, and innovation.The tour provided a glimpse into the diverse range of disciplines housed within the district, from fashion and graphic design to digital media and architecture.

Reflecting on the day, it was evident that the visit to Ravensbourne was more than just a tour—it was a catalyst for personal growth and informed decision-making. By exposing our students' minds to the fusion of Creative media and computer science, the university inspired a generation of future innovators and problem-solvers.

As the students departed, they carried with them a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper appreciation for the transformative potential of interdisciplinary studies. The journey to Ravensbourne University will undoubtedly resonate with their talents as they navigate their educational pursuits and embark on their own paths of creative exploration in the world of media and technology.

The trip was not merely about observing but about envisioning possibilities. For many students, the experience was eye-opening, sparking new interests and aspirations. Students left the University with a clearer understanding of how their passion for Media, design, or technology can translate into impactful careers in the digital landscape.
